Remedial massage therapy

Massage is much more than a back rub. It is a form of structured touching and is one of the oldest known healing arts. Our trained and experienced massage therapists at Stirling Health Professionals employ scientific principles to accurately identify the areas requiring attention, addressing and resolving the issue, all of which leads to better health.

The benefits of remedial massage include:

  • improved circulation by stimulating blood supply
  • allowing toxins in the muscles to be removed and toning
  • relaxing muscles, which improves joint mobility.

Taking the time to have a regular massage is important and you may experience lowered respiratory rate, lowered blood pressure readings, lowered pain, and an increase in range of movement.

Lymphatic drainage massage or manual lymphatic drainage

Lymphatic drainage massage or manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a type of massage using extremely light, circular movements which encourages the natural circulation of the lymph through the body.

The lymph system depends on peristalsis and the movement of skeletal muscles to squeeze fluid through lymph ducts and vessels.

The benefits of lymphatic massage include:

  • relief of fluid congestion, such as swollen ankles, tired puffy eyes, swollen legs during pregnancy, swellings after trauma and surgery
  • improvement of chronic conditions, including sinusitis, rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, acne and other skin conditions
  • may strengthen the immune system and help with the reduction of allergic reactions, such as hayfever
  • promotes the healing of fractures, torn ligaments and sprains and lessens the pain
  • promotes healing of wounds and burns and improves the appearance of old scars
  • minimises or reduces stretch marks and can assist in the reduction of cellulite.

Our massage therapist Angela Balinski is trained and experienced in lymphatic drainage massage.

Low level laser therapy

Low Level Laser Therapy or LLLT is the treatment of various conditions using laser to effect a photochemical reaction at a cellular level. The laser light penetrates tissue where it is absorbed by cells and converted into energy that influences the course of metabolic process. The laser does not heat tissue.

The laser can be used in conjunction with ultrasonic therapy, physiotherapy, chiropractic therapy and concurrent with most other therapy.

Advantages of the laser therapy include:

  • painless and often immediate analgesic effect at the time of treatment
  • dramatically shortened recovery time with rapid reduction of swelling and inflammation.

Laser therapy is recognised and used worldwide for the treatment of numerous conditions and injuries, including:

  • lymphoedema
  • slow healing skin wounds
  • fibrous lesions
  • sprained and strained ligaments
  • tendon injuries
  • muscle soreness

Laser therapy is used to treat skin wounds which can:

  • reduce scar formation
  • reduce pain and inflammation
  • increase collagen and reduced cellular substances
  • increase epithelial activity
  • increase capillary blood vessel formation

Our massage therapist Angela Balinski offers laser therapy appointments.
